With Easter a little over two months away, now is a good time to prepare for that trip away. We all enjoy a good long weekend getaway, and millions of Aussies will be loading up their caravan or camper and heading off for some R&R. The idyllic weather and long weekend - why wouldn't you?
Before you hit the road, you should make sure your car & caravan are up to the task.
Check your fluids, tyre tread & pressure, brakes. Same on the caravan. Are your gas bottles full? Are the electricals all working? Packing some basic tools and spare parts can sometimes be a life saver.
Safety never sleeps. A first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flashlight and communication devices are all must haves, especially for remote locations.
Pack the right clothes & personal items. Yeah, its still pretty warm during the day, this time of year, but the nights can get cool. And don't forget to pack rain gear. You know how unpredictable Aussie weather can be, and Easter time is no exception to the sudden down pours.
Make sure you have all the the right cooking essentials - portable stove/bbq, pots & pans, plates, bowls, cutlery, cups etc. And for the love of god, don’t forget the esky. There’s nothing worse than warm beer!
Ensure you have enough to keep the kids entertained! Board games, UNO, fishing gear, bicycles, cricket bat etc. Chairs & hammocks are also a great idea.
Security. Something often overlooked. Lock up if you’re away from your site for any reason, and secure any loose or valuable items inside your vehicle or caravan. You may be taking a break, but thieves do not!
Plan your route, and read up on the rules for towing, as many people don’t realise they exist in other states.
Lastly, pay close attention to your GVM. Take into consideration your passengers, and any fluids, eg. fuel & water, as this all adds up and can take you over your legal GVM. If you’ve loaded up and noticed the rear of your vehicle squatting slightly, we can help. Even if you're nowhere near your max load rating, some vehicles could still use a little extra help, and that's where we come in.
We have a large range of airbag load assist kits for most popular vehicles, to help keep your car & caravan sitting level. Most kits are a simple bolt in application, and can be done with basic tools. Head to our online SHOP or call us +61 7 5574 5800 if you aren't sure, our staff are happy to help!
Stay safe this Easter!
